EPICENTRUM Cellars is a family-owned and operated winery specializing in premium, small lot production. The name Epicentrum is Dutch for "epicenter", so named for our Dutch heritage and our proximity to the Calaveras Fault Line in the foothills of the Gabilian Mountains.
Troy and Michelle are part-owners of Marich Premium Chocolates, a large confectionery company that boasts world-wide distribution. Troy is the brains behind all of the candies' formulas and also serves as the Company's current Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer involved in the day-to-day running of the confectionery.
After 18 years of being involved in every aspect of the business from making candy in the early days to serving as the head of Sales and Marketing, Michelle moved on and now works on the winery.
The couple's penchant for good food and wine has created the perfect opportunity to create rich and robust wines that not only pair well with chocolate, their first love, but also wines that pair well with flavorful meat and wines that can stand on their own. They want to wow their boutique following with full-bodied, well-balanced creations that finish strong and linger on the pallet.
Co-owners Troy and Michelle van Dam founded Epicentrum Cellars in 2011 when their hobby of wine-making began to exceed their hobby of wine drinking! The husband and wife team were already used to working well together. Why not start a winery?
